Cleaning Our Creeks, Strengthening Our Communities.

At Salt Marsh Solutions, we believe that our tidal creeks are the lifeblood of the Lowcountry. Our goal is to protect this vulnerable ecosystem and learn as much as we can about it on the way!

About Salt Marsh Solutions

At Salt Marsh Solutions, we spend a lot of time paddling on kayaks or walking around the salt marshes of Charleston. Over the years we’ve noticed a significant amount of waste being left near creek mouths and boat launches. Fishing line wrapped around oyster bed, beer cans in the grass, and flip flops buried in the mud. Our goal is to have a team of volunteers come out at a low tide and explore these marshes, cleaning up trash and learning about the diversity of the marshes along the way!

If you’ve ever spent any time in or around the marshes, among the pluff mud, oyster beds, popping shrimp, and bustling fiddler crabs, we’re sure you felt the same magic we feel standing among them, yadda yadda yadda

So clearly we’re pretty passionate about our estuaries. What’s our plan?

Our Plan:

We need you!

Every trip we’re looking to take six volunteers with us.

Volunteers will be chosen on a first sign-up, first chosen basis.

Every trip we’ll be hiking out to a different location which will be disclosed on the sign up list.

Be sure to dress for the conditions! It could be muddy, wet, cold, or sandy. We recommend you bring water, gloves, boots, and a towel. Bug spray/ trash bags will be provided. Carpooling is especially encouraged!

How can I volunteer?

We’ll be posting dates and times for our trips based on conditions and tides. If you’d like to sign up there will be a Google Sheet provided on the website and social media. Around six slots will be available per trip, carpooling is highly encouraged!
